It was a powerful few days in Ōtautahi for the recent Haere Tonu Kia Piki Ora Te Waipounamu Suicide Prevention Symposium, the brainchild of four formidable Whānau Ora partners from all corners of Te Waipounamu, who together form the Kia Piki Te Ora Te Waipounamu Suicide Prevention Collective.

Kaimahi from Ngā Kete Mātauranga Pounamu Charitable Trust’s Kōrari Māori Public Health team (Murihiku), Maataa Waka ki Te Tau Ihu (Wairau) and Poutini Waiora (West Coast) travelled to Ōtautahi to join with He Waka Tapu for the symposium.

The rōpū made stops along the way to kōrero with communities and champion better outcomes for whānau.

We are in awe of the work our partners and others are doing to ensure no one in their community is left in the dark. If you or someone in your whānau is struggling and unsure where to turn, then one of the rōpū in this collective is a great start.
